Broken Cable?
Hello,

I just purchased a 1999 Jayco Eagle 12FSO, the left rear corner doesnt raise. My buddy lifted the roof on that side while i cranked it and we braced that side with a 2X4 to hold it up. I unscrewed a wood piece closest to the crank and I saw the eye bolts with the cables (1 loose) and 1 spring was exposed. I am not sure what to do from there, are there any more places in particular I should check? Can someone tell me specifically where to disassemble to gain access to the offending cable and how to replace it? Thanks in advance

Bruce

RE: Broken Cable?
if you want to do it rite you need to acces all 4 corners, somtimes that means removing something like a water heateror cabinet . usually all the problems start when someone got in a hurry opening the camper and left one latch still closed. and started cranking, thats were one eyelet gets streched out or the cable breaks, if its not repaired asap it just gets worse, a small adjustment becomes a big problem. another good site is popupportal.com the name of the game is research and reading everything there is on the subject.
in the up position the spring is pushed up into the lift pushing it up to the top when cranked down the spring and cabled slide all the way into the square tube, as you crank it up the cable is pulled back out of the tube pulling the spring out of the tube and pushing it up into the 3 or 4 part lift pushing it up. more than 1/4 to 1/2 inch difference between any 2 corners is to much.
